Snowshoeing is an Awesome Winter Activity
Snowshoeing is a winter activity that has been around for thousands of years. The exact origin of snowshoeing is somewhat mysterious, but it is believed to have started around 4,000 BCE in Central Asia. Snowshoeing was adopted by fur trappers and settlers and became a common form of transport and sport among First Nations people prior to European settlement in North America.
Today, snowshoeing is a popular recreational activity that offers several benefits. It is a great low-impact aerobic exercise that lets you extend your hiking and running season and enjoy solitude in areas that might be crowded in summer.
It is also an excellent social activity that can be enjoyed by all ages and ability levels. Snowshoeing is affordably priced and requires only a few basic techniques. It is beginner-friendly and can be learned easily. Snowshoeing is a fun way to get outside during the winter and makes traveling in deep snow easier, opening the door to year-round hikes and walks. Snowshoeing is almost as easy as walking, and it lets you enjoy the beauty of winter landscapes while providing ease of mobility.
We run snowshoeing and winter hikes from mid-November through to the end of April.
The snow base in areas such as the alpine zones around Muine-dake and Yoichi-dake allow mixed hiking/snowshoeing right into summer.

A Short Note About Our Winter Excursions.
With our winter hiking and trekking experiences, the use of snowshoes and what routes are accessible will be entirely dependent on the snow cover and depth, as well as the current weather and avalanche warnings on any given route. Snowshoes may not be necessary and traveling with snow gaiters and trekking poles (included in the package) may be the best mode of transport.
These factors will dictate what routes are available. The experience and fitness levels of all participants are also taken into account.
